Tepe Dawen Jawau
Posted September 7, 2010
on:This is one of my favorite Dayak traditional foods. At least, I cook it once in two weeks. I learned to cook it from my mom. I’m happy that finally I can make it for my family and share the recipe to you..Here is the recipe and have a try.
To make a bowl of tepe dawen jawau, you need green cassava leaves, coconut milk, some ingredients to be pounded with the cassava leaves. They are onions, garlic, ginger, galangale, lemongrass, you can add some chili if you like it hot. I like to add some young papaya leaves or string-beans and terung pipit.
First, finely pound the cassava leaves, terung pipit, onions, garlic, ginger, galangale, lemongrass and chili. Second, simmer the coconut milk and stir until it’s boiled. Then, add the pounded spiced leaves, Papaya leaves or string beans add salt and sugar. Wait until it’s done.
You can serve it with fried-fish, fried dried fish, tempe or meat.
